Following on from today’s meeting…
I know some concern was raised about possible charges for non-Equity members on what we colloquially call ‘contractual’ payments, when the distribution transfers to Equity from BECS. I’ve spoken to Matt Hood and can confirm, as per our impression from our initial meeting with Equity, that no charges will be applied to non-Equity members for receiving those fees.
The only changes he’s pointed out are that SCR payments currently incur an 18% charge from BECS for non-Equity members. Under the new system this charge will be reduced to 5%.
Matt will be writing to agents to explain the new distribution system, implementation timetables, the contractual nature of payments and Equity’s policy on monies held by the union, in due course.
As I said in the meeting please do feed back to us on any difficulties you encounter and we will, of course, discuss the issue further when we’ve received the definitive information from Equity. I just wanted to keep you all in the loop as to what Equity have told us so far.
