Please note below from Virginia Wilde, Equity:
I thought it might be helpful if I could update your members on a couple of issues.
Firstly, with regard to the forthcoming production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, we have got Playful Productions to amend the clause in the contracts that they are issuing which stated that the performers could be required to film a ‘making of’ or ‘behind the scenes’ documentary and to film the whole production for exploitation in any media and that such filming would not attract any payments. The clause will now state that they must be paid ‘no less than’ the PACT/Equity or other relevant union minimum rates.
Secondly, to confirm that unfortunately we still do not have any increased West End theatre minimum rates which were due from 14 January 2013 as we have not reached a deal with the SOLT managers and despite negotiating for over a year we are not yet near reaching any kind of agreement. We will, of course, keep you posted on developments.
